Via Ferrata of Avoriaz

Nestled on a cliff overlooking Avoriaz, the Via Ferrata « Le Saix du Tour » stands out as one of the most remarkable in the area. Rated as « fairly difficult, » this route offers not only breathtaking landscapes but also thrilling challenges for climbing enthusiasts. With good guidance, it is also an excellent sporting experience for novices seeking an adrenaline rush.

The starting point of the Via Ferrata in Avoriaz is located at the foot of the Antares building. (See location).
After a short approach walk of a few minutes, the route begins with a small easy ascent, followed by a traverse with your feet on a narrow ledge. Next, the descent of « L’Emotion » can already provoke some sensations… A short traverse precedes an oblique ascent followed by a small vertical wall. Then, you traverse at the base of the steepest part of the route: « Le Passage du Génépi. » A short earthy climb and a comfortable traverse lead to another earthy climb that gives access to the « Grotte des Ardoisiers. » After that, the « Passage du Berger » is a very comfortable ledge that leads to a beautiful rock overhang: « Le Balcon du Lac. » You then traverse an oblique ascent in a fairly steep rocky area: « La Traversée du Bénitier. » A series of ledges then provides access to a very beautiful horizontal traverse followed by a characteristic corner: « Le Passage du Rasoir. » You climb just behind a beautiful small dihedral and reach the summit of the Saix du Tour ridge via a steep grassy slope, first in traverse, then directly. The descent takes about thirty minutes along the ridge and then along a track.
