The Movie
On this project, Valentin and Louis (two boys from Morzine) went to meet scientists, meteorologists, researchers, and mountain pioneers to inform themselves and playfully understand climate change in the Alps. They illustrated the discussions with beautiful freeride skiing images between Morzine, Avoriaz, and Chamonix.
Perspectivethe project
For the past few years, climate and meteorological changes have been at the center of debates in Savoie and Haute-Savoie. It is from this observation that Valentin Garreau and Louis Baud, two cousins from Morzine, embarked on creating « Perspective. » « The idea came up over a beer two years ago. » « We wanted to understand how to ski for as long as possible, » confess the two 25 and 23-year-old students. Lasting 39 minutes, the feature film revolves around a ski journey between Morzine and Chamonix. Filmed with the assistance of Corentin Croisonnier, a cameraman at Oprim-media, the shooting lasted five months last winter.
Valentin et Louis
Skiers since their youngest age, Valentin and Louis have had the chance to share most of their adventures together. Starting from the ski club, progressing to becoming ski instructors, and then making a turn towards freeride skiing. Indeed, for over eight years, freeride skiing has been a significant part of their daily lives. After participating in various competitions at different levels, today they express their common passion through the camera.

In addition to skiing, the film is interspersed with interviews with scientists and mountain pioneers. Valentin Garreau, pursuing a master’s degree in environmental genomics, was able to establish contacts through his professors. Thanks to one of them, they interviewed Heidi Sevestre, a recognized glaciologist from Annecy working in Norway. Chloe Maréchal-Chenevier, a geochemist, paleoclimatologist, and lecturer, as well as Arthur Garreau, a meteorological engineer, also contribute to « Perspective. » We aim to create a non-preachy and rather playful film. We want viewers to leave the film with questions and to form their own opinions on the subject.
