Arriving during the winter
OUR ADVICES:
- Keep your coats, hats and gloves within easy reach as you’ll need them to keep warm as soon as you arrive.
- Heeled shoes, leather shoes and slippery soles are ideal if you want to try a spot of figure skating, but hardly suitable for walking on snow. Wear proper boots equipped with crampons or shoes suitable for walking in the snow.
- Suitcases on wheels are very practical, but don’t work very well on snow. If you can, opt for travel bags and rucksacks instead. It is important to bring luggage that is compact and which closes properly, and to use carry cases for your ski equipment.
- Pushchairs are not practical on snow either, but special pushchairs on runners are available for rent from most of our ski gear retailers. They’ll make your life easier and your children will love them.
- Avoriaz 1800 is divided into different districts. To avoid any stress on arrival, find out beforehand the name and district of your apartment building, and don’t hesitate to check the resort map.
- You want to enjoy skiing as soon as you arrive but your accommodation is not available yet? Take advantage of the Luggage storage service: 8 am to 6 pm, € 2 / luggage. Contact: +33(0)4 50 74 06 45

On Saturdays, the sleighs and snow vehicles operate a little differently, and the reception staff are on hand to provide any help you may need for your departure.
If you do not require any assistance, you can use the luggage sledges that can be found at various strategic points around the resort. Just look for the one nearest your apartment building and insert a 1€ or 2€ coin to release your sledge.
Saturday morning departures
Between 8 am and 11.30 am our receptionists, wearing yellow vests which make them easy to spot, can be found at strategic points around the resort. When you’re ready to leave, there’s no need to order your transport.
Simply look for a receptionist just outside your apartment building, bearing in mind that some of them move around from one building to another, passing by roughly every 5 minutes.
To avoid the crowd, we recommend you leave before 9 am or after 11 am. Make sure your luggage is compact and properly closed before you travel.
